Understanding the problem

Student Debt

50% of young Canadians (18-24) have student loans, and only 36% will pay them off by age 30.

Overspending

50% of Canadians aged 18-38 have gone into debt to keep up with peers, spending on everything from clothes to travel.

Housing Crisis

In some cities, millennials need nearly a decade to save for a 20% down payment due to skyrocketing real estate prices.

OPPORTUNITY

How might we advise Young professionals to monitor their current expenses and achieve their milestones through healthy financial habits?

DEFINING INSIGHTS

Target and Challenges

"The user base for this project consists of young professionals aged 20-35. Based on interviews, key insights point to the need for a mobile solution that supports budgeting goals, tracks spending, and fosters healthy financial habits for future planning.

Figo Banking must be intuitive and easy to understand, while also meeting WCAG 2.0 AA accessibility standards, ensuring it’s usable by individuals who lack confidence in managing their financial needs."

Desktop ≠ Mobile

There’s a lot of space to play with on desktop.

This pushed me outside of my typical mobile-first approach and allowed me to gain a new appreciation for responsive designs..

Pivot

Initially, we started in a different direction. While in theory it could have worked, it lacked originality and creativity.

Suffice to say because we weren’t tied to ideas we were able to come up with a significantly stronger and more impactful final deliverable.
